Artist Residency – Part 2, 3e Imperial

Ho ho – I thought I was bringing the process of Roadside Attractions to Granby, QC…but little did I realize that my project would totally transform. Part 1 of my residence brought with it a whole array of questions and re-considerations: of what it means to work with(in) a community and to be an artist on the road. Danyèle Alain of 3e Impérial summed it up nicely in her recent mailout (my translation): “a project that examines the parallels between the archetypal traveling salesman and the nomadic artist.” In this case, the traveling salesman is my father, me the nomadic artist. So now, as of Part 2, I am in the midst of developing a project that reflects on our respective life-choices while forging connections with specific members of the business community in the town of Granby, QC. To be continued!!
